The MTech PAD Case houses the iPad Mini 7, Magtek Payment Device, and MTech Smart Box in a single secure assembly for EMV payment processing. Proper assembly ensures reliable card reader and host connections between the iPad and the payment device.
To learn how to assemble an MTech PAD Case, follow the steps below:
- Gather all parts from the Parts List: MTech Case, MTech Smart Box, MTech Smart Box Cushion, Magtek Payment Device, and (2) USB-C Right Angle Cables (3"). Before assembly, power on the Magtek Payment Device and ensure that only a single light is visible on the front of the device. If four lights turn on, contact Tabit Support
- Adhere the Smart Box Cushion to the side of the MTech Smart Box that has the etched mtech logo on top (Fig. 1)
-
Connect the 2 small USB-C cables into the MTech Smart Box. There are 2 connections on the device: CR (Card Reader), which connects to the Magtek Payment Device, and Host, which connects to the iPad Mini 7. Ensure the CR cable is behind the Host cable for easy installation into the case (Fig. 2)
The connectors on the USB-C Right Angle Cables are slightly bigger on one end. The bigger of the two ends connects into the Smart Box, and the smaller end connects into the associated devices
- Insert the MTech Smart Box and cables into the open spot on the lower left side of the case. The cushion side of the MTech Smart Box faces out, with the cables pointing to the top of the case (Fig. 3)
- Prior to installing the Magtek Payment Device into the case, connect the USB-C cable plugged into the CR slot on the Smart Box into the Magtek Payment Device. Install the Magtek Payment Device into the case with the cables pointing towards the center of the case (Fig. 4)
- Connect the USB-C cable plugged into the Host port on the Smart Box into the iPad Mini 7. The cable should point towards the Smart Box, not towards the Magtek Payment Device (Fig. 5)
- Insert the iPad into the case, making sure the connected USB-C cable fits between the Smart Box and the Magtek Payment Device. Make sure the entire iPad is secured in the case and that all cables are seated correctly (Fig. 6)
