Glossary of Tabit terminology

Eat In
  • Eat In orders placed through Tabit Order are geared towards customers who are in the building at a table and want to have a contactless ordering experience
  • Eat In Orders are located under the Over the Counter (OTC) profile
  • Eat In Orders do not have status updates or actions to perform
  • If Tabit Order is set to "Auto Execute" the Eat In Order will fire upon order completion otherwise the User will need to fire the Items to the kitchen
Decision Group
  • Decisions can be pre-selected and overridden before ordering an Item
  • Cannot have a price associated with them
  • Only one value can be selected/applied to Decisions
All-Day Count An active listing of the Items to be sold within all of the Tickets/Orders currently displayed on the screen
Item
  • Can have an Offer (price point) associated with it and can be reported on
  • Can be part of a Modifier and/or Decision Groups
  • Can have a Modifier/Decision Group attached to it
Modifier Group
  • A group of Item(s) or free text that is available to add or to remove from an Item(s)
  • A group of Item(s) or free text that comes with an Item(s)
  • Items in a Modifier Group can have a price associated with them. Modifiers cannot be modified
Offer A price point that an Item is sold at, each is defined by a unique Offer Code
PAD View What the user sees on the PAD
PPA (Per Person Average)
  • Determined according to the Net Sales for a given day
  • Includes only Seated Orders where seated duration exceeds 10 minutes (excluding Tips), divided by Guest Count
  • PPA excludes all OTC Orders
Gross Sales Total of all net sales plus comps and promotions
Seated Orders Any order rang in on a Table or Tab
86 An 86ed Item is out of stock and cannot be ordered
TD Takeaway/Delivery
Combo Group

A group of Items sold under a single price point. Ex: Our Burger Combo includes a cheeseburger, a choice of side, and a drink.

  • If the Items are all sold separately, the total bill will be $18.50 ($5 for Fries, $3.50 for a Coke, and $10 for the Cheeseburger).
  • If the Items are sold as a Burger Combo, the total bill will be $15
Suspicious Transactions Suspicious Transactions allow GMs/Owners/Chef users to view transactions that aren’t on the expected path of the order cycle and may be suspicious
Menu Section

Menu Sections allow for:

  • Customized reporting through Tabit BI
  • The management of multiple price points
  • Secondary grouping of Menu Items outside of the Tabit Catalog

    Menus and menu sections are customized menus designed for your restaurant's reports. They offer an extra level of BI reports to meet your reporting needs. For instance, you might have a menu specifically for lunch, happy hour, or employee meals

Auto Staffing Auto Staffing in Tabit Shift allows a Manager to automatically populate the schedule using available data (Employee Availability, Employee Quotas, Employee Priority, Employee Shift Limits, Vacation Requests, and Shift Priority)
Reminders Reminders in Tabit Shift are used to keep restaurants in compliance by ensuring that employees are aware of when their certifications expire
Employee Quota Employee Quotas in Tabit Shift lay out the framework for the schedule by defining the number of Employees needed for each Job Function, Shift, Day Part, and Day of the Week
Shift Priority Setting Shift Priority in Tabit Shift ensures that the highest priority shifts are filled first, and all other shifts filled afterward accordingly. This is done using a number system where the higher the number, the more priority the shift has
Future Reservation Future Reservations in Tabit Guest are reservations that are made ahead of time over the phone or online
Quick Seat Quick Seat in Tabit Guest is used to seat a guest quickly without putting them on a waitlist or making a Future Reservation. Entering guest information is optional when using the Quick Seat option
Tags Tags are be used to communicate additional notes to the kitchen or bar and can be customized by Course, Diner, Item, or Order
Reservation Tags Reservation Tags are used in Tabit Guest by the Hostess to take note of certain things like birthdays, strollers, wheelchairs etc. The guest does not see Reservation Tags when making online reservations
Future Order

Future Order allows Customers to order Takeaway, Delivery, or Eat In Orders for a specific date and time. They can be automatically suspended and are available for both the Manager and Server to view

 

Void An Item that was not made. Appears in blue on the PAD
Return An Item that was made and returned. Appears as red on the PAD
Comp An Item that has been made and the restaurant elects not to charge for it
OTH An Item that has been made and the restaurant elects not to charge for it
Discount An Item that has been made and the restaurant elects to only charge for part of it
Exception Occurs when an Item is sold at an open price or a Comp/Void/Return is made
Order A recorded transaction from multiple sources (PAD, online, external) that may include any combination of Items sold, payments, exceptions, or media exchanges
4 week average Total of the past 4 weeks of sales, divided by 4, based on the day of the week
Table owner By default, is defined by whoever is logged in on the PAD, opens an Order, and fires the first item. The Table Owner is monetarily responsible for the sales and if a tip is given, will be allocated to them
Labor % Based on Gross Sales
OTC Orders

Generated in one of two ways:

1. Through the OTC Work Flow Profile as sold as "Eat In"

2. Through Seated Orders that were open and closed in less than 10 minutes

 

Takeaway Orders

Generated in one of three ways:

1. Through the OTC Work Flow Profile as sold as a "Takeaway"

2. Through the Takeaway Delivery Profile as "Takeaway"

3. Through Tabit Order/ External Sources as "Delivery"

 

Refund Orders Any Order that has payments returned
Menu Catalog
  • Every Item in Tabit Office needs to be categorized into the Tabit Catalog
  • The Tabit Catalog has three levels of departmental hierarchy that is built into the standardizing reporting
  • Kitchen routing is also based off of the Tabit Catalog
  • If a site wants to customize reporting ensure the Menu and Sections are set up to reflect the specific needs of the restaurant
Kitchen Queue Kitchen Queues are documents that include certain Items and/or Item Categories and can be associated with multiple printers
User Permissions Provides access to different areas in Tabit Office
Master Item Items that are managed only from HQ level. Master items appear in blue on local sites
Lead Item The main item that a combo is connected to. Ex. in a meal deal, the burger is the lead item and the side and drink are included as part of the combo
HQ HQ sites are multi-site (group) or restaurant chain setups that allow for centralized management of menus, promotions, and more. Each HQ can determine what aspects of their business are managed on the HQ level, and what should be managed on the site level
Gift Card Prepaid card that can be used as an alternative to cash
Tabit Order Online ordering platform for takeaway, delivery, and future orders
Future Order Order palced online or on the PAD for a different business day
Auto Gratuity A preset service charge added automatically to a customer's bill
Promo Tag A tag created to manually apply a promotion to an order, as opposed to promotions that are applied automatically
Training Mode Creates a separate environment on the PAD that simulates regular service functionality. It allows staff to practice workflows like opening orders, applying discounts, or processing payments—without sending anything to the kitchen or saving real transactions
Locked Order An order that becomes temporarily inaccessible when another employee is already editing it
Facial Recognition A security and authentication feature that identifies a user by scanning and matching their facial features. It allows authorized users to log in and out, clock in and out, and approve actions
Pre-authorization

A temporary hold placed on a customer’s credit card to verify funds and secure payment before the final charge is processed

EOD End of day: The process of closing the current business day in the system and moving to the next one
