The Tabit Guest Display shows customers a real-time view of their order on a dedicated screen. This article covers how to pair the Guest Display and resolve common connection issues.
For general information on how to use the Guest Display, please visit our Overview article.
Pairing Instructions
The Guest Display requires two separate iPads: a staff iPad used by your team to enter and manage orders at the counter, and a customer-facing iPad that runs the Tabit Guest Display app and displays the order to your guests. Both iPads must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network before pairing.
To pair the Guest Display, follow the steps below:
- On your staff iPad, log in with a Manager profile and navigate to Operations > Technician > Guest Display
- On the customer-facing iPad, open the Guest Display app
- Back on the staff iPad, pair the two devices using one of the following options:
- Scan the QR code shown on the Guest Display screen
- Manually enter the IP address shown on the Guest Display screen
- When prompted on your staff iPad, tap Ok to confirm the pairing
- Check the connection status:
- A green "Connected" notification means the devices are paired and actively communicating
- A red icon means the devices are paired but not actively communicating — confirm both iPads are on the same Wi-Fi network
Paired means the two iPads recognize each other. Connected means they are actively communicating. Both are required for the Guest Display to work correctly.
Troubleshooting Your Guest Display Connection
If pairing fails or the Guest Display becomes unresponsive at any point, follow the steps below in order before attempting to pair again.
To troubleshoot your Guest Display connection, follow the steps below:
-
Restart both iPads. To restart an iPad:
- Press and release the Volume Up button
- Press and release the Volume Down button
- Press and hold the Power button until the Apple logo appears
- Wait for the iPad to fully restart before continuing
Repeat this process for both iPads.
-
Once both iPads have restarted, verify that each device is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. This can be checked in the iOS Settings app, outside of the Tabit application.
The customer-facing iPad will be locked. To access iOS Settings, you will first need to unlock it: tap the Lock icon on the Guest Display screen, enter the admin code using today's date in DD/MM format (for example, enter 27/05 for May 27), tap Continue, then select Unlock to access the device or Disconnect to unpair if needed.
- Once both iPads are restarted and confirmed on the same Wi-Fi network, repeat the pairing instructions above. After pairing, confirm the connection is showing a green "Connected" notification
If the connection is still failing after completing all of the steps above, please contact Tabit Support for further assistance.
