Upsells, presells, and cross-sells can be used in both Tabit Kiosk and Tabit Order to entice the customer and encourage them to increase their order or order more expensive items.
In Tabit Kiosk, there are four different options available:
- Presells: appear before an order is modified and are useful for offering alternative selections
- Cross-sells: appear after an order is modified and are ideal for complementary items
- Upsell group before checkout: appears just before finalizing an order, promoting last-minute add-ons
- Upsell group after offer addition to the cart: appears after an item is added to the cart, suggesting related extras

Presell
Presells are used to suggest something to the customer before they start their order. It can nudge them towards a popular item that may have a higher-margin than other items and plant the idea in their mind before they make decisions.
For example, when a customer selects the bacon cheeseburger, a presell can pop up encouraging them to select the double-bacon cheeseburger instead. They can choose to select this option or continue with their original selection.
There doesn't have to be a connection between the item selected and the presell offered. Configure whatever suits your business needs.
Presells can also be used to force the customer to make a decision about an item before continuing with their order. For example, if they're ordering a pizza and there are two different pizza kitchens, one for regular and one for gluten free, a presell pop-up can be configured to force the selection before continuing on to the rest of the pizza order.
Presells can also be beneficial for reporting purposes. If you sell burgers with a single, double, and triple patty, but don't want to force the customer to make that selection up front, it can appear as an upsell once they have selected the burger they want.
Cross-sell
Cross-sells are used to encourage the customer to enhance their order with extra related items. Customers are more likely to add complementary items when they see a logical connection between their choice, like recommending adding fries and a drink when a customer orders a burger. Cross-sells can also encourage customers to upgrade their order to larger sizes, similar to how presells are used.
Upsell group before checkout
Before a customer finalizes their order and proceeds to checkout, you can configure a final upsell group can appear to offer additional items that they might have missed or forgotten to order. This enhances the customer's experience while increasing restaurant revenue. Upsells can be used to promote items that may be harder to find from the home screen, like sides and drinks
For example, when ordering from a sushi restaurant, the upsell group before checkout may include egg rolls, miso soup, dessert options, etc.
Upsell group after offer addition to the cart
Upsells can also be set to appear right after a customer adds an item to their cart. Similar to how cross-sells are used, upsells can encourage the customer to complete their meal with sides or drinks.
For example. when a customer adds a steak to their cart an upsell window can pop up recommending mashed potatoes, a salad, or a glass of wine.
