What are all-day ingredients?

All-day ingredients in Tabit Kitchen refer to the total count of predefined ingredients needed across all active orders within a kitchen. For example, in a burger restaurant, the grill station might need to keep track of how many burger patties, grilled chicken portions, and strips of bacon are required at any given time. This count is not just for one order but aggregates the needs from all orders currently being prepared.

By maintaining a running tally of these key ingredients, the kitchen staff can better anticipate the demands of their station and prepare ingredients in batches rather than on a per-order basis. This not only speeds up the cooking process but also ensures that the kitchen operates efficiently, reducing the likelihood of delays or errors in fulfilling orders.

In the context of all-day ingredients, your KDS will display the total count of each key ingredient needed for all orders. For example, if there are three orders for burgers and two for grilled chicken sandwiches, the KDS might show that 5 burger patties, 2 chicken portions, and 4 slices of bacon are required. As new orders come in or existing orders are completed, the counts adjust automatically, keeping the kitchen staff informed about the current demand. This real-time visibility allows chefs and line cooks to prioritize their tasks, preparing ingredients in bulk when necessary, and ensuring that they can respond quickly to incoming orders.

There are several reasons why a restaurant might choose to implement all-day ingredients in their Tabit Kitchen display:

  • Improved Efficiency: By having a clear overview of ingredient needs across all orders, the kitchen staff can prepare items in bulk, which reduces cooking times and speeds up the overall service.

  • Reduced Waste: With accurate tracking, there's less chance of over-preparing or under-preparing ingredients. This precision helps in minimizing food waste and ensures that ingredients are used efficiently

  • Consistency in Orders: The system helps maintain consistency across orders, ensuring that every dish that leaves the kitchen meets the restaurant's standards. This is especially important in fast-casual or high-volume dining environments where consistency can sometimes be a challenge

  • Enhanced Communication: In a busy kitchen, clear communication is key. An all-day ingredients system centralizes information and makes it accessible to everyone on the line, reducing the likelihood of errors and improving teamwork

  • Better Inventory Management: Over time, tracking all-day ingredients can provide valuable insights into ingredient usage patterns, helping management forecast demand and manage inventory more effectively

In the example below we can see how this site has all-day counts active

  • Lobster Portions: included in Lobster Rolls. There are two orders of Lobster Roll, therefore the all-day count reflects 2

  • Grilled Chicken Breast: included in Chicken Sandwich and Chicken Salad. There is one order of chicken sandwich and one order of chicken salad, therefore the all-day count displays 2

  • Lomito Portion: included in Lomito Sandwich. There is one order of Lomito Sandwich, thus all-day count shows 1
